Hockey/Swimming Party Cake

Hey everyone I'm back!  Its been a while since i blogged two days back to back.  I have been missing it, but just couldn't find my groove.

So in between Jacks accident & hospital stays we were home for a week and I did have a few cake orders to fulfill.  Which was great because we were trying to keep things as normal as possible. 

So when this young girls mom called me  (an old neighbour from growing up) I hopped right on it, hockey was also my favorite sport growing up. I also played it too.  But that's for another day.

This day was all about Miss J.  I was told that her favorite team is the Toronto Maple Leafs.  And she was having a swimming party.  So this is what I delivered to her.

This cake was all Chocolate!!!  The bottom tier is a Hockey Jersey.

(Do to lighting I had to place the cake in 2 different places)

So that's it, in a nut shell for tonight.

Happy 1st Birthday Noah!

Hello everyone!!!

A day late on this one folks, but heres it is.

Happy Birthday Noah!!!

This little guy turned 1.  He's too cute!!! 

His mom told me that he likes dogs and birds and when they go on walks and see a dog he starts hooting at it. LOL, right!   I thought that was pretty funny! 

The bottom layer is chocolate with chocolate butter creamand the top layer in Vanilla with vanilla butter cream.

So i had to call in the girlson this one,hahaha.  I wasn't sure what way the stripeswent on the Zebras head.  (i knew that they would know)

Hunting Cake for Jesse.

Hello Everyone, Hope your having a great weekend!!!

The weather here as been great and the kiddos are spending lots of time in the pool, with 4 more days left of school, the count down is on to be in the pool every second of everyday!!!

So this weekend there were a few birthdays to celebrate!

Happy 7th Birthday Jesse!!!

This little man loves anything that has to do with hunting!!!

So when he came to our house (i use to look after him and his brothers) he would always follow Chris around, it was to funny!!!

Peony Wedding Cake

Hello Everyone!!!   Its been way to long!!!!

This past weekend, well in fact most of last week I worked on this cake for a family friend.

Congratulations Kristina & Eddie!!!

The cake that I created for them was Vanilla cake layered with homemade Lemon Curd, iced with Lemon Butter Cream. 

Kristina's favorite flower is the peony.  Let me tell ya we were all glad when they were still out in bloom for her special day!!!  So I also created these sugar peony's for the top of their wedding cake.

These pictures are from different angles,  I LOVED making these!!!!!

I felt kinda famous for a split sec when I delivered this to the venue, when I had one of their little nieces ask me if I was The Cake Designer.  Hello,  I think my eyes were as big a saucers and i was in surprising shock, and then I think I started to chuckle and then I came out "I'm trying to be"

What the heck you do say that to a 10 year old.  I should have been saying "Yes, I am, Would you like to watch me put this together".   She was so cute!!!  She stood there and watched me place the flowers on the cake with the biggest grin the whole time!   Priceless!!!

My first sugar Peony that I worked on.  I had so much fun!  They do take alot of time and days ahead because they need 2-4 days drying time.  The humidity doesn't help the drying time at all.

Here they are drying.  I have tin foil placed over bowls and plastic wrap around them to help them keep there shape while they dry.

Homemade lemon curd.  If you are a lemon type of person you so need to make this!!!  One of the best things ever!!!  (I'm the lemon type)

Jake & the Neverending Pirates

Joyful Thursday!

Hello Thursday!!! 

Hope everyone had a great week and a great last weekend!

I have tones to tell, but only giving you a little preview. hahaha

I have finally chosen the right colour. (I think)  I tested out one colour for over a week now, and I'm not feeling it.

After flipping through a few wall paper samples, Chris and agreed to this.  (still thinking about it!)

And I have been heavy into the Caramel making.  This is after the first 1/2 hour.  Smells AMAZING!!!

1 hour in, stirring non stop. You don't want this yummyness (is this even a word)

burning!

1 an 1/2 hours in, its a long trek but so worth it!!!

Were getting there, I can taste it!!!

20 minutes later this is the greatness that you are left with.  Holly Cow as my kids would say, lol.  That looks so good.

We were also living in the land of strawberries.  I had six little eyes over seeing these.  They were all about the same size and the little ones got into little hands.  Nothing like cocolate dipped strawberries for breakfast

In the end this is what the cake looked like.  It was for a bridal shower.

And it is that time of year again, Chris's flyin fishing trip.  And Im booked for my weekend in September.  Go team Real Tree!!!

A little man up the road had a Pirate Party on Sunday, and the look on his face when I came to the door with this.  LOL!  It was sooo cute and funny.  And I was speechless.  His look said it all!!!

Happy Birthday!!!

This cake was half Vanilla with Vanilla Butter cream and the other half Chocolate with Chocolate Butter cream.  The fondant was all Chocolate.

These are the onions that Zoe picked for me. She first came in with one little bunch then the next thing I know she comes in with an arm load and says to me.  "Mom I picked you some onions maybe you can put them into soup."

All I could  do was laugh.  These are the only thing that we have growing right now, and have yet to plant our veggie garden.

Hey Saturday!!!

Hello Saturday Afternoon!!!

I hope that every ones weekend is off to a great start!!!

With one cake already out the door this morning a have a few more to fulfil. And half of our house hold is off for an afternoon nap, and the girls outside playing I have a few minutes to take in some silence,  lol.  (you moms out there know what I'm talkin about)

So if you have been wondering why I really haven't been around here for a few days, well we have been a little busy taking care of our dog "Spot". and why, well I ran over him on Wednesday night after our girls fantastic night at GEMS.  I was turning into our lane way and that's when it happened.  And Chris rushed him to the 24 hour on call vet.  Thank you god that he was OK.  But at first we didn't think that he was going to make it.  He has a swelled right shoulder and his leg was twisted.  Maybe a broken rib, but there is nothing that can be done for that, and a few small cuts on the pads of his front feet.  The first 24 hours was pretty emotional.  I have been feeling so bad for what I have done.  But Thank God that he is going to be OK.  He is still in pain, but getting better day by day!!!

And here's the cake that got picked up this morning.

Great Monday!!!

Hello to all!!!

So this morning I was up before the birds, It was oh so peaceful!!!  Instead of banging and clanging around and waking up the whole house hold I sat my behind down in front of our computer, with a nice hot coffee. Oh my life is great!!!  Until I was going through my feed  (if your a blogger u will know what I'm talking about)  My life got even more fantastic, haha,  A fellow Blogger has already posted about her fantastic SNAP weekend!  WOW and full of excitement for her and all the other Ladies that attended the Utah weekend!  I'm still hopping that one year I will be heading to SNAP :)   I loved what Lyndsey from the Pleated Poppy said  "She loved being in a room full of gals that got her!!!"  What a great feeling that would have been!!!  Along with all the crafty goodness!!!  

While a flight to Utah wasn't in my plans I did get on the Bow Tie Band Wagon though.

These are made from 100% wool.   Jack looked too cute with them on.  Next time we're going to have to have the camera ready!

This weekend I also had Cake orders to fulfill.  And had so much fun creating them!!!   This here cake was for a wee man turning 1.  He had a Johnny Tractor themed Birthday.  The bottom of the barn was vanilla and under the roof was chocolate all with vanilla butter cream.

Surprise 40th!

Hi everyone! I hope that everyone had a great weekend!!! I sure did, I kept myself busy with cake orders, the girls and their sleep overs and Chris getting ready for hunting season which started this morning for the early controlled gun hunt. (it's deer season here). Good luck Chris!!! More on the deer hunting later, I hope to post daily maybe more, positive thinking!!! (I'm so behind with posting :( ). So anyways one of the cakes that I did this weekend was for a duelist 40th B-day. So this is one of the cakes that she ordered. There was two cakes but the other one is xxx rated. Sorry but these will not be posted on my Blog.
