Turkey Season 2012, while I'm thrifting

Hey All!!!

Today markes the second day of TURKEY SEASON 2012!!!    Whoooot,  hooo!!!
Although I'm still not hunting this season:(  We were up and at em at 4am.  (What the BLEEP) I feels like my day should be almost over, lol!!!
Chris and his friend Chad came home around 8:20am.  They BOTH got a turkey!!!   Way to go!!!   Our freezer is in need of some Wild Turkey.  We get this treat once a year.  And like with every hunt we did a photo shoot.

Chris and Chads first Turkey's of the season, day 2 am.  Today is windy and pretty cold.  -Chris is wearing a wool sweater.

While Chris is Hunting I'm thrifting.  Great ugly ducklings turning into swan princesses.  I found these great buys for $7.  I have found that Valsper spray paint may hurt your finger a little, but the finished product in amazing!!!
We Love the RED!!!

This here beauty is our Fav!!!

I started these Wednesday afternoon and completed the last night,  AMAZING!
Chris has complmented me so many times that I have lost track!!!  Oh how I love in soo!!!

We have been dealing with a sand storm now for weeks.  (really, it has been weeks!)  We have never seen anything like it.  Chris has lived here all his life and has never seen this. Its crazy!!!  I wasn't aware that we lived in the desert here in Ashfield Twsp. (LOL)

The feild behind our house.  And this is nothing, at times it's a wall of sand around us!  (please look beyond our pile of sleds and skiies, and other stuff we're in the prossese of cleaning out one shed to put it in barn) lol.

This dosn't look to bad, but the haze that you see is sand!!! It blows so bad at times that were you see the grass field end, the sand wall begins and you can't see nothing.  And when you walk outside you got it, sand in your eyes! Ouch!!  This morning was one of the few times the wind didn't pick up the sand, and Chris was able to hunt.

Well Everyone Enjoy the rest of your day,  I'm thrifting for some .50 cent finds.  See ya!!!

Until Later,

Hello Tuseday.

Hello All!!!
As I said yesterday, the weather man or women had mentioned that we were to get snow today.  Well we didn't get what they thought.  But we did get very little snow this morn.   I'm grateful that our gardens didn't die!!! I was kinda worried!!!  (the storm went around us)

Now that our little ones are slowly getting bigger I have been searching for ideas for playgrounds.  I have came across lots!!!  Barbara Butler has got to be my fav!!!   I would love to add on to what we already have,  And I have started to come up with a few drawings.  We have somethings that we can re-purpose from around the farm :)  Bonus
Well,  I'm off to more baking!   YUM!!!

Until then,

Great Monday!!!

Hello to all!!!

So this morning I was up before the birds, It was oh so peaceful!!!  Instead of banging and clanging around and waking up the whole house hold I sat my behind down in front of our computer, with a nice hot coffee. Oh my life is great!!!  Until I was going through my feed  (if your a blogger u will know what I'm talking about)  My life got even more fantastic, haha,  A fellow Blogger has already posted about her fantastic SNAP weekend!  WOW and full of excitement for her and all the other Ladies that attended the Utah weekend!  I'm still hopping that one year I will be heading to SNAP :)   I loved what Lyndsey from the Pleated Poppy said  "She loved being in a room full of gals that got her!!!"  What a great feeling that would have been!!!  Along with all the crafty goodness!!!
While a flight to Utah wasn't in my plans I did get on the Bow Tie Band Wagon though.

These are made from 100% wool.   Jack looked too cute with them on.  Next time we're going to have to have the camera ready!

This weekend I also had Cake orders to fulfill.  And had so much fun creating them!!!   This here cake was for a wee man turning 1.  He had a Johnny Tractor themed Birthday.  The bottom of the barn was vanilla and under the roof was chocolate all with vanilla butter cream.

Happy Birthday Logan!!!

Thank you for your cake orders this weekend!!!

Tomorrows post just very well might be on snow that we are to get tonight.  The wind died down here a bit (the calm before the storm)  I'm praying that we don't get the 10 cm that they are calling for!!!

Enjoy your night!!!

Food and savings!!!

Hey everyone!!!
As I said last night i would be back today with some food and savings.
While I was gone from from my blog I also found some great ideas for my kids lunches and snacks which in the end saved us money. No more boxed granola bars friends.

Chewy Snack Bars

5 cups cornflakes
4 cups crisp rice cereal
1 cup salted peanuts
1 cup flaked coconut
1 cup light corn syrup
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup light cream

In a large bowl, combine cereal, peanuts & coconut; set aside.  In a saucepan combine corn syrup, sugar, butter & cream; cook and stir over medium heat until mixture reaches soft ball stage, about 25 min.  Pour over cereal mixture and toss to coat evenly.  Pat into a greased 9x13" baking pan.  Cut when cooled. Yield: 2-3 dozen.

Be careful when stirring mixtures together.  I was left with left over peanuts & coconut, a broken spatula, and a mess all over the table. The girls loved it as everything was flying out of the bowl.  LOL!
Make sure that you do not cook your mixture passed the softball stage or you will be left with Rock snacks.
Click here for more info on candy making.

Chewy Chip Bars

4 1/2 cups old-fashioned oats
1 cup all purpose flour
2/3 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup honey
1/3 cup brown sugar
1tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup butterscotch chips

In a mixing bowl, combine the first seven ingredients; mix well.  Stir in chips.  Press into greased 9x13" baking pan.  Bake @ 325* for 18-22 min. or until golden brown.  Cool and cut into bars.  Yield: 2-3 dozen.

Honeycomb Goodies

1 package (14-1/2 ounces) Honeycomb cereal
1 pound (16 ounces) white confectionery coating,  (white chocolate)
2/3 cup creamy peanut butter

Place cereal in a large bowl; set aside.  In a saucepan over low heat, stire confectionery coating & peanut butter until smooth, about 10 min.  Pour over cereal and stir until well coated.  Immediately spread on to parchment paper lined baking sheets.  Let cool and store in airtight container.

Everyone in our household enjoyed these goodies.  Also great for the lunch box, just Grab & Go.  It makes it alot easier for the girls to pack their own lunches.  Or when they come home from school and need a quick fix, Grad & see ya outside!

I hope that you all enjoy these yummy goodies.  Have a great day!!!

Untill Then, Kendall   oxox

I'm back in the Saddle again!!!

I'm feeling pretty Fantastic today my friends!!!
I have finally done things that I have been putting off for months, and yes you read that right months.  Although there have been reasons for that, I'm not going to bore you today.  (Sorry folks)  lol.

A certain someone in my life has a saying for me, (my mother)  "Kendall every things a project for you".  When ever she asks What are you working on,  I reply  "Ah, one of my projects".  Mom, "Oh, which one are you working on today?"

So here are some finished things that I have done while I have been away from my blogging,  (some stress relieving work!)

These are the wonderful curtains that I made for our laundry room, (which is a closet)  I have never stopped loving this fabric!!!  I have had it laying around since 2003 waiting for me.  (a buy 1 get 2 free sale) I had bought it to redo our camping trailer at the time.  And this is what I did with the left overs.  (the bird house hanging is the girls piece of work)

This is the ruffle along the bottom.  Who doesn't love ruffles!!!  I have joined the band wagon!!!

The hooks that hold it all up, wrought iron from the Dollar Store. $1 each.  And the wrought iron rod we had in the shop. Left overs from when Chris was building wrought iron furniture.  He painted it black for me and wa la. Done!!!

Here's the lamp shade that I made a while back, all from scraps.  I finally got around to painting it's home.  I'm sure it loves it but I'm not so sure that I do, lol.

This here milk glass light fixture also got a nice fresh coat of paint as well.  (still needing to get the paint thinner out, as you can see)

Mr. J taking in a great source of vitamin C.  Which we have been all needing lately!!!  We go through 8lbs a week. (darn runny noses)

We better go back for some more!!!  yummy!!!

Yes, I to have been saving frames for over a year now.  I have my colour scheme down now, which I'm very excited for!!!  Thank you left over white paint!  Living Room make over done on the cheap!!!

This project cost around $7.
(the lamps, couch, end tables are all going to be receiving a revamp)

Here is the pures that I have loved for so long, but my flame is slowly fading, haha.  So I took a venture and this is what I ran into.

There ended up being one down fall, it DIDN'T fit my new wallet from Christmas.  So I guess the grass isn't always so green on the other side. LOL.
So I'm sticking with good old Turk, for now.  I'm secretly hopping that one day a wristlet clutch will enter my life from a favorite designer!!!
(I'm just not that great with putting colour together, and what works)

The cost $???  I already had everything.

Its amazing what things you an create when You Shop Around Your House!!!
Thank you to every one that has said this!!!

Happy Monday!!!
And to the busy week to come!!!
